An official source denied on Tuesday media reports that a terrorist accused, among others, of the killing of former prosecutor general Hisham Barakat was related to Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazi.
Ahmed Gamal Hegazi was listed among a terrorist cell arrested over the killing of the chief prosecutor last year.
"The terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group is behind such rumors, exploiting that the family name of the terrorist is the same as that of the top army official," the source said.
"The terrorist group seeks to undermine the state and raise doubts about the army's integrity," the source added.
