The Department of Traffic and Patrols
Sharjah - Arab World

The Department of Traffic and Patrols of the General Directorate of Sharjah Police, in co-operation with the Sharjah Air Wing, has started monitoring the traffic violations on various roads in the emirate by air.

Major Abdulrahman Khater, Director of Awareness and Traffic Media, said that the air tour, which included several sites, fields and main roads in the city of Sharjah, aimed at reviewing, evaluating and analysing the situation in crowded areas during the peak hours.

He explained that the surveillance focussed on the five most important streets in the emirate: Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Mleiha Road, Al Ittihad Street, Emirates Road and Al-Dhaid Street.

He pointed out that through the monitoring of traffic, the operations room would be informed about the violating vehicles and crowded places so that the traffic patrols could reach these areas quickly, and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

He stressed that the Sharjah Police General Command, through its constructive initiatives, sought to enhance road safety and reduce the number of deaths, upgrade the traffic system, and achieve the objectives of the Sharjah Police General Command, as per the strategy of the Ministry of Interior.

He called on motorists and road users to abide by the traffic rules and regulations on internal and external roads, adhere to the road speed limits and pay more attention while driving, as well as to protect themselves and others from traffic accidents.
