Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, Sajaya, a branch of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, Rubu’ Qarn, has performed its first-ever operetta, titled, "Dreams of Colours," on Thursday, at the Sharjah Cultural Palace Theatre.

Telling the story of a group of colours that unite to fulfil their dreams, Sajaya’s performance was organised in collaboration with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Sharjah Children’s Centres and the Art for All Centre.

The event was planned as part of Sharjah’s goal to support the national theatre movement and realise the goal of the UAE Vision 2021, to create a knowledge-based community with a strong position in the regional arts scene.

Dreams of Colours featured skillfully choreographed singing and acting from Sajaya’s performers, who perfectly performed a tale of six colours, each with a unique dream of how they could make the world a better place.

The combination of artistic scenes was designed to showcase a stimulating template for performing arts and theatre in Sharjah.

"Dreams of Colours reveals the beauty of the performing arts, with the operetta expressing Sajaya’s vision to strengthen the presence of its young members in the theatre industry. Musicals, such as this, help young ladies to gain new artistic experiences and see new worlds, and taking to the stage in such a creative manner enhances their self-confidence, broadens their social skills and develops their independence," said Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya.

"Sajaya’s philosophy is perfectly aligned with the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Rubu’ Qarn, who encourage the engagement of young people in theatre and the performing arts. They are also keen to immerse younger generations in creative endeavours, to enrich their experiences and encourage their innovation," she further added.
