New York - BNA

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdellatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised active participation of This is Bahrain Society, in cooperation with the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, in the United Nations General Assembly activities. He said this participation underscored Bahrain’s pioneering status in promoting tolerance and coexistence thanks to His Majesty the King’s approach.

In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) given on the sidelines of his visit to Bahrain’s exhibition on tolerance, currently held at the UN headquarters in New York, the USA, Dr. Al Zayani said the innovated initiatives of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to foster peace and coexistence confirm Bahrain’s glorious history as a melting pot of different ethnic groups and religions. They are also an assertion to the world of the kingdom’s effective experience in promoting tolerance, peace and equality among all people, the GCC Secretary General added.

The GCC Secretary General also stressed that the remarkable royal initiatives make every Bahraini proud of belonging to the Kingdom of Bahrain, this glorious country that boasts a history rich in innovated initiatives to foster peace and mutual respect between all regardless of religion or ethnicity. He added that the messages sent by This is Bahrain Society and the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence through their effective participation in the UN General Assembly meeting reflect resolve to continue promoting peaceful coexistence between all religions and sects.

Dr. Al Zayani pointed out that choosing the major international gathering at the UN to organise the exhibition and project the kingdom’s pioneering initiatives is an ideal way to globalise the Bahraini experience in promoting religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
