The Terre de Hommes, a Swiss humanitarian group organisation that develops and implements projects designed to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children, today celebrated the graduation of some 500 male and female refugees from its first life skills training course at the Emirati-Jordanian camp for Syrian refugees in Mrajeeb Al Fhood, Jordan.
Head of the UAE relief team and director of the camp, Ali Mohammed Al Dhaheri, his deputy Salim Al Mazrouie, and Lt. Colonel Othman Ali Al Maharmah, chief of security in Mrajeeb Al Fhood, and families of the graduates attended the ceremony.
Terre des Hommes' project manager at the camp, Mohammed Sarsak, noted that the two-month course, funded by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), featured 17 subjects and that the trainees learned about communication, positive thinking and how to build self-confidence and solve conflicts.
Some 1800 individuals want to enrol in the next training course, he noted.
He commended the support extended by the Emirates Red Crescent to the organisation.
The Terre de Hommes has been operating at the refugee camp since 2013.
