First Attorney General of Central Cairo Prosecutions Wael Shebl ordered the dispatch of fire experts at the criminal laboratory to examine the cause of the fire which broke out at one of the rooms of Cairo City Hall headquarters in Abdeen district downtown Cairo Thursday morning.
Initial investigations showed that the fire was limited and it was successfully controlled.
The fire took place in the office of deputy director of the housing department at the City Hall and it was controlled before spreading to the whole building.
The Prosecution is currently listening to the testimonies of the workers to know the cause of the fire that left no deaths.
The fire comes one day after a fire erupted at the historic area of Ghouriya downtown Cairo that left three textile shops and a number of warehouses damaged. It also comes three days after a fire engulfed the over-crowded area of Attaba downtown Cairo.
Attaba fire left three persons dead and 91 wounded. Initial losses are estimated at EGP 400 million after the fire engulfed around 240 shops and dozens of stalls.
