Beirut - Arab Today

Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Tuesday maintained that the ongoing dialogue in the country had focused on the dissociation policy for the sake of Lebanon and the Lebanese, adding that the legislative polls will be held on their due date.

"The ongoing dialogue will be resumed in the coming days with great positivity and openness; this is a serious dialogue to reach serious solutions in order to preserve our relations with all of our Arab friends, especially the Gulf," Hariri said during his meeting at Bayt-al-Wasat with a delegation of representatives of the Economic Committees, the General Labor Confederation, the banking sector, companies, businessmen, and workers.

"This dialogue is based on the dissociation principle, in deeds and not just in words, not because this is what I need, but because this is what Lebanon needs. The interests of the Lebanese entail that we dissociate ourselves for the sake of Lebanon and all the Lebanese who live in the Gulf and elsewhere in the world," he added, revealing that next week holds good things for the Lebanese.

On the economic level, Hariri promised to finalize the study of the 2018 state budget before the end of the current year, "if things are positive regarding the dissociation policy."

"What matters to me is the country, national economy, and home stability," he underlined.

"This is the logic I have worked by and will continue to do so, especially that we have accomplished a lot, like the 2017 budget and the election law," he said.

"I confirm that the legislative elections will take place on their due date, and everybody has cooperated in that respect," he added.

Moreover, Hariri indicated that France and the Gulf states were still committed to investment projects in Lebanon, adding that French experts will visit Lebanon and start preparing for Paris IV "when we finish with the political issues next week."

"But all this depends on the effective results regarding the dissociation issue," he said.

"Also, we will work on finalizing the gas dossier, as well as files relevant to electricity, water dams, and other projects," he concluded
