Former National Assembly Speaker Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi on Tuesday voiced pride over the UN naming of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as 'Humanitarian Leader' and Kuwait as a 'humanitarian center'.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion after being received by Deputy Premier and Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Al-Kharafi said that the honoring was a "natural entitlement" considering His Highness's rich journey of generous contributions to humanity and giving; a virtue deep-seated within the ruling family since Kuwait's inception.
"Just as His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was bestowed with the title of 'Amir of Hearts'... Today, His Highness Sheikh Sabah is conferred the title of 'Humanitarian Leader' in clear manifestation of Kuwait's humanitarian facade," Al-Kharafi noted.
The UN Secretary General is to hold an official naming ceremony for His Highness the Amir at the UN headquarters in New York later today.
