Cabinet: Municipal elections to be held in October
Ramallah - Arab Today
The Council of Minister decided, in its weekly session on Tuesday, to hold the municipal elections for the Palestinian local councils in October 2016.
The Council also assigned Minister of Local Government, Hussein al-Araj, to coordinate with the General Elections Commission to make the necessary procedures to hold the elections on the due date.
Commenting on media reports that the Israeli government was planning to annex the West Bank, the Council said such a plan proves that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spared no effort to undermine any effort on the way to reviving peace talks.
The Council added that Israel will never be able to enjoy security and stability so long as the Palestinians are unable to enjoy them.
