King Abdullah II of Jordan has received Saudi Deputy Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud, and discussed with him Jordanian-Saudi relations and a number of regional issues, according to a statement issued following the meeting.

According to the Jordanian News Agency, Petra, the meeting dealt with ways to cement ties between the two countries in a host of domains and the latest developments in the region and the world. King Abdullah and Prince Muhammad emphasised the importance of maintaining constant political consultation between the two countries on regional issues and crises.

In this context, they stressed that regional crises should be resolved through political solutions and that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the region's countries should be maintained. They said that interference in the internal affairs of regional countries is rejected.

King Abdullah and Prince Muhammad voiced rejection of Iran's policy of interference in the region and said that this policy 'inflames sectarian conflicts and fuels terrorism'. They warned Iran against continuing its current approach, which, they said, deepens disputes and conflicts in the region and undermines stability.

They stressed that the two countries will continue to enhance bilateral cooperation in the security domain and in the fight against terrorism and extremism, renewing condemnation of terrorist acts, which hit a number of countries.

King Abdullah and Prince Muhammad underlined the importance of participation in counter-terror efforts and alliances.

On directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Majesty King Abdullah II, the two sides agreed on developing military cooperation between the two countries to promote regional security and stability, enhancing cooperation in the energy field, nuclear power exploration and producing electricity from nuclear power, cementing trade ties, increasing the two-way trade exchange, opening the door for more Jordanian exports to the Saudi market and forging closer relationship between businessmen in both countries, launching additional joint ventures in cooperation with the private sector, signing a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a joint investment fund between the two countries and forging closer cooperation in area of transport and freight movement.
