Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) President Samih Bino said on Sunday that the decision to halt recruitment in ministries and other government entities, except for senior leadership positions, had been applied in a fair and transparent manner.
Briefing the cabinet on the ACC's anti-graft efforts, Bino said the agency's endeavours had helped to a large extent in curbing practices such as wasta (nepotism) and kept in check many administrative violations.
He said that in order to bolster the role of the oversight bodies, the ACC had recommended responding speedily to observations by the Audit Bureau concerning any financial or administrative wrongdoing and to fully enforce the code of professional conduct while ensuring protection to informers and witnesses in graft cases.
