Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim held a meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Police and security leaders to review plans to counter terror elements and criminal hotspots.
Ibrahim underlined the importance of frequent field follow-ups to get familiarized with problems in the Egyptian streets.
Talking about traffic issues, he instructed the officials to step up traffic campaigns to tighten supervision over highways, main streets and squares nationwide.
He stressed that all state institutions should cooperate to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, adding that security campaigns to detect "drug drivers", the main cause of road accidents, will continue.
