Preliminary investigations proved that a human error by the driver of the school bus was behind the tragic road accident that left 17 people dead and a similar number wounded, a security source said.
The driver of the Orman School for Hotels lost control over the steering wheel at 169km on the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road, causing the bus to swerve and push towards the opposite side to ram into a trailer, a private car and a pick-up truck, the source told MENA.
All four vehicles caught fire, he added.
The owner of the private car, a police major, was killed in the accident, the source added.
