Gulf Cooperation Council member states have denounced statements made by some Iranian officials against the GCC countries, the countries of the region and the international community, calling them 'incompatible with the diplomatic norms, principles of good neighbourliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of states, as stated in the Charter of the United Nations'.
GCC Secretary-General, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, rejected in the name of the GCC countries remarks in the statement, which included 'accusations and abuses that reflect the reality of the negative political positions pursued by Iran, continued abuse of the GCC countries, interference in the internal affairs of the GCC countries and the countries of the region, in addition to threatening them, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Yemen'.
The Gulf Cooperation Council called on Iran to reconsider its negative policy pursued in the region, which does not help to build confidence and establish constructive relations of cooperation between GCC countries, to maintain stability, and it calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, prevent Iran from threatening peace and security in the region, and damaging global interests associated with this vital region.
