Former Secretary General of South Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) Pagan Amum urged the international community to intervene to resolve his country's crisis, warning of the outbreak of brutal war among tribal factions.
In statements to BBC Radio on Sunday, Pagan said South Sudan should temporarily be placed under the auspices of the UN to end the civil war and restore stability to the country.
South Sudan has approved the deployment of regional troops in the wake of the outbreak of tribal fighting in Juba according to an agreement reached by The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
Last month witnessed the outbreak of violent clashes between troops of Salva Kiir, the president of South Sudan, and his longstanding opponent, Riek Machar, the vice president, leaving at least 300 people killed.
