Minister of the Interior Nohad Machnouk, on Sunday, staunchly criticized the practices of Foreign Affairs Minister Gibran Bassil, without naming him, saying, "persistence in this political line exposes the government's solidarity to serious risks."
"The policy of shock, coercion and compulsion cannot be sustained," Machnouk said to members of Al-Makassed Islamic Philanthropic Association in Beirut, stressing that he distinguishes between the President of the Republic and the Foreign Affairs Ministry's policy, which contradicts with the government's norms and the ministerial statement.
"The policy of disassociation, which was one of the presidential settlement terms, has been undermined recently, starting with the visit of a number of ministers to Syria, their participation in the Damascus International Fair, far-reaching the meeting between Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil and his Syrian counterpart Walid Moallem in New York, which was not coordinated with the Prime Minister," Machnouk concluded
