Preparations are in full swing to start implementing the new electronic visa issuance system on October 1.
The new cyber scheme was today the focus of a coordination meeting between officials from the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al-Khalifa co-chaired the meeting with Assistant Undersecretary for Human and Financial Resources and Information Technology Khalil Yacoub Al-Khayat in the presence of directors and officials from both ministries.
The two sides will discuss the new mechanisms for streamlining the e-visa issuance procedures at Bahrain’s embassies and consulates abroad.
The Cabinet had issued an edict expanding the new e-visa system which will benefit visitors from 102 states, up from 38 countries at present.
The meeting is also part of efforts to upgrade services and streamline and unify procedures for citizens living abroad, including renewal of passports.
