Egypt has expressed its deep concern over the deteriorating field situation in Syria amid an increase of violence and fall of several innocent civilians.
The remark was made by Egyptian chief delegate to the Arab League (AL) Ambassador Tarek el Qouny, in his speech on Wednesday at the inaugural session of the AL at the level of chief delegates that is set to discuss the alarming escalation in the Syrian city Aleppo.
He added that such a state of affairs means adding to the catastrophe of the brotherly Syrian people who have been suffering for the past five years.
He meanwhile denounced the shelling operations in several parts of Syria over the past few days; especially shelling Al Quds Hospital in Aleppo, constituting a stigma to humanity.
These developments constitute also a setback to international efforts that have been exerted over the past few months, to push up the peace process in Syria; including stopping all acts of hostilities, he added.
Egypt urges all parties concerned to exert all efforts for stabilizing an agreement on cessation of hostilities and hammering out a real truce while expanding it to cover all areas of conflict in Syria.
He confirmed that the only avenue for settling the Syrian crisis is reaching a peaceful solution that is approved by all parties concerned.
