The Education Ministry denied reports that it paid 50 million pounds for security men in 27 governorates to secure Thanaweya Amman exams.
These are groundless reports, the ministry said in a statement Saturday evening.
Under Article 31 of ministerial resolution 365/1994, the ministry pays bonus for security personnel securing exam committees only in the exam days.
Each committee is secured by a policeman and two conscripts which make the total money the ministry pays to 4,743 security men is four million pounds and not 50 million as media reports claimed.
These have been the procedures applicable in Egypt for 20 years now, it added.
The ministry urged media outlets to verify accuracy of news before publishing them.
