As part of its ongoing drive to establish and integrate the latest holistic technology, Sharjah Government is entering a new era of interconnectivity with the adoption of ‘Zajel’ communications.

In a detailed presentation of the new service to a number of government representatives, Sharjah Department of eGovernment, DeG, introduced government representatives to the benefits of the new technology, including digitising all government communication and correspondence, the use of electronic signatures, enhanced transfer monitoring and tracking electronic documents.

The fifth workshop also highlighted how 'Zajel' enhanced cybersecurity using safe electronic channels that incorporate the highest safeguards and encoding standards, secured with end-to-end encryption. DeG emphasised how it will work with other government entities in Sharjah to train and assist relevant personnel, as 'Zajel' is progressively rolled out across all departments as part of the DeG strategy to unify departments and operate as a fully integrated set of entities.

"Our aim is to ensure that we have the most advanced, the most secure, the most comprehensive and the most efficient systems in place in order for the people of Sharjah to benefit from this essential transformation into a digital age. The DeG is both a department of technical investment and a source of strategic counsel, which is why we are adopting 'Zajel', a perfect tool of our system requirements and a prime example of our progress," said Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director-General of Sharjah DeG.

At present, six Sharjah government departments are using the service, with the number set to rise as more employees adopt the new technology.

"Zajel is an intuitive, bilingual application, equipped with electronic-signature technology, including a complete anti-forging protection feature, and the full implementation of this system will bring even more effectiveness and efficiency to Sharjah government’s services," added Al Qasimi.

Other 'Zajel' advantages include an even greater reduction in the need for hard-copy paperwork, an important focus for DeG, which prioritises protection of the environment and saving natural resources.
