Presidents of parliamentary commissions and groups and the Bureau of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) stressed the need to complete the discussion and adoption of the draft law on fight against terrorism and money laundering before the electoral vacation, NCA President Mustapha Ben Jaafar said Monday after the Conference of Presidents.
"There is no legal vacuum in terms of fight against terrorism," he added in reference to the 2003 law which, according to him, is "devoid of any guarantee of fair trial and any protection of freedoms."
"That is why, we are working to develop a new anti-terrorism law," he said.
The conference also emphasised the need to address the issue of absenteeism of deputies in what remains of the NCA work and discussed priority draft laws for the coming period.
