Council of Representatives First Deputy Speaker Ali Al-Aradi held a meeting with Al-Hekma Movement leader Ammar Al-Hakim.

Al-Aradi is leading a Bahrain parliamentary delegation on a visit to Baghdad at the invitation of the Iraqi Council of Representatives.

The delegation also includes MPs Majid Al-Majid, Dr. Majeed Al-Asfoor, Hamad Al-Dosary, Khalid Al-Shaer and Mohammed Al-Jowder.

The meeting was attended by Bahrain Ambassador to Baghdad Salah Al-Malki and Iraqi scholar Hussein Ismael Al-Sadr.

Al-Aradi stressed the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf region, urging stronger relations between the GCC states and other Arab countries.

He called for concerted efforts to combat extremist ideologies breeding terrorism, which represents one of the challenges threatening regional security and stability, underlining rejection of external interference in countries’ internal affairs.

He described Iraq’s Arab identity and independent decisions as a key pillar buttressing the security of the Arabian Gulf region, reiterating Bahrain’s rejection of external interference in internal affairs.

He stressed the necessity of basing relations with neighboring countries on respect of national sovereignty and non-interference in national issues which may threaten the security and unity of Arab people.

He stressed the keenness of the Council of Representatives in Bahrain on building bridges of cooperation with all influential actors on the international arena.
