An Arab League mission will take part in monitoring the three-day administrative referendum in Darfur region which will kick off on April 11.
The referendum will be the first of its kind to be held in Sudan and comes as part of the Doha peace agreement in Darfur, which was signed between the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Movement in 2011.
An Arab League mission arrived in Sudan on Tuesday to finalize with Darfur Administrative Referendum Commission all logistical preparations related to the participation of an AL delegation in monitoring the referendum, according to an AL statement on Thursday.
The referendum in Darfur will decide whether or not the region should remain as five states or become one entity with a degree of autonomy.
