Arab foreign ministers to hold emergency meeting on Jerusalem

The Arab League will hold an emergency meeting today at the level of foreign ministers.
Requested by Palestine and Jordan, and supported by several Arab countries, the meeting will discuss the U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel and to move his country’s embassy to the city, as well as the decision’s dangerous repercussion on the situation in the Occupied Palestinian territories and the serious threat it poses to regional and global stability.
Prior to the ministerial emergency meeting, the Arab Peace Initiative Committee, comprising Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Qatar, Lebanon, Morocco, Yemen, and the Arab League Secretary-General, will also hold an emergency meeting to discuss the U.S decision on Jerusalem.
Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Abu Al-Gheit, held the U.S Administration accountable for igniting tensions in the region, stressing the Israeli Occupation Forces seized the opportunity and used excessive force against Palestinian protestors.
