Abbas Reaffirms Need to Hold international Peace Conference Soon

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed the importance of stepping up the process of holding the international conference that France called for in order to take the political process out from its current standstill and form an international support group to settle the Palestinian issue according to the two-state solution, the Arab peace initiative and international legitimacy resolutions. 
Abbas made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday with Masaharu Kohno, the Japanese envoy for the Middle East peace process. 
In turn, the Japanese diplomat reiterated his county's support for the French initiative and its keenness on participation in the international support group.
