At least two Saudi policemen were killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire with some gunmen, who are believed that they committed a "terrorist attack" in Ahsa late Monday, leaving five people dead and nine injured.
"While policemen were about to arrest those suspects, they opened heavy fire at them (policemen), leaving two dead and others injured," Spokesman for Ministry of Interior said.
Policemen, as a response, opened fire at the suspects, killing two and injuring others in Al-Qasseem's Buraidah, he added.
In a related development, the spokesman said that other security operations led to the arrest of nine other suspects across the kingdom.
He stressed that policemen are determined to combat decisively any plots made by some to destabilize the country.
Earlier in the day, the spokesman stated that the security follow-up to the incident has resulted in the arrest of six people involved in the terrorist crime during simultaneous security operations implemented in Shaqra Governorate in Riyadh region, and Ahsa and Khobar Governorates in the Eastern Region.
