Fourteen ambulances were sent to the scene of the road accident that left 10 students dead and 18 others wounded in Beheira, said a Beheira health official.
A bus carrying school students collided with a truck and two private vehicles on the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road near Beheira province.
The bodies of the ten dead were charred, Beheira Health Undersecretary Mohamed Nametallah said.
Earlier reports put the death toll at 16.
Director of Beheira Civil Defense Department Gamal Yassin told MENA that a bus carrying students of Orman Charity rammed into three cars on the agricultural road, causing a fire in the four vehicles.
Investigations are underway to find the cause of the collision.
