
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong on Monday urged relevant units to accelerate the progress of handling serious corruption cases.
The general secretary specifically put his finger on the cases at the Vietnam Construction Bank and the Ocean Bank involving violation of state regulations on economic management causing serious consequences, violation of lending regulations among credit organizations.
During a meeting of the standing board of the CPV Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption on Monday, Trong, who is also head of the committee, called for attention to new cases launched on the basis of new findings at trials of corruption cases related to several banking officials, among others.
Trong also requested to strengthen coordination mechanism between units concerned at the central and local levels when it comes to investigation, prosecution and trial of corruption and economic crimes under the watch of the committee and the CPV Commission for Internal Affairs, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.
At the meeting, participants discussed the progress of handling serious corruption cases and coordination mechanism between central and local investigation and prosecution units.
