
The UN International Commission of Inquiry for possible violations of human rights in the Arab Republic of Syria is studying the reports on14 cases of chemical weapons use in that country, Chairman of the commission Paulo Sergio Pinheiro told a news conference in Geneva on Monday. “However, we haven’t determined nor the culprits neither the type of the substances used,” he admitted. Previously it was annonced by UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson Martin Nesirky on Sunday that Ban Ki-moon has received a report on chemical weapons in Syria. Last week a source said the report was supposed to confirm the fact that chemical weapons were used in a Damascus outskirt on August 21, a diplomatic source at the United Nations headquarters told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
