UAE Embassy provides food aid for Mogadishu

The UAE Embassy in Somalia has supplied food aid to the Mogadishu municipality for distribution to underprivileged families and displaced persons, as part of the Iftar Project implemented by the embassy in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC.

The food aid was handed out at the embassy headquarters in Mogadishu in the presence of the UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Mohammed Ahmed Othman Al Hammadi, and Yusuf Hussein Jim'ale, the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu.

The aid included 200 food baskets containing basic food items, in addition to 2,400 kilos of dates to be distributed to beneficiaries during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The embassy also oversaw the provision of a further 50 food baskets and 100 cartons of dates to a Somali association which cares for orphans and supports poor and marginalised families.

Mayor Jim'ale expressed his thanks and appreciation to UAE charitable institutions for their ongoing humanitarian initiatives to help the needy in his country, especially during the Holy Month.

Al Hammadi reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to continuing its efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Somali people.
