Ankara - Arab Today

The Turkish authorities have banned all mass rallies and demonstrations in Ankara until November 30 due to security threats, according to a statement by the governor's office issued Monday.

The decision, part of the state of emergency imposed in the wake of the failed coup of July 15, is based on tips that terrorist groups plan for attacks on public areas in the capital city, the statement said without naming these groups.

The decision is meant to ensure people's safety and public order, it added. A spate of suicide attacks in Ankara over the last year killed 103 people on October 10, 2015.
