South Korea is beefing up its security measures against possible acts of terrorism in the wake of the recent attack in a Berlin market and the shooting of Russia's ambassador in Ankara.
The cabinet decided in a Thursday meeting to employ "stronger anti-terrorism measures and step up vigilance around popular public places, particularly towards the end of the year," Yonhap news agency reported.
Among the measures is increasing efforts to inform South Koreans overseas so as to protect themselves better. The government also intends to hold regional consultative meetings on counter-terrorism.
