
U.S. secrets leaker Edward Snowden did not fly to Cuba in June because Cuban authorities would have denied him landing permission, a Russian media report said. Snowden, who is wanted in the United States on espionage and other charges for leaking information on National Security Agency surveillance programs, has been in Russia since July 16, RIA Novosti reported. He was initially supposed to travel from Hong Kong to Havana on June 23, but changed his route because because Cuban authorities would have denied him landing permission under pressure from the United States, Russian business daily Kommersant reported Monday, citing sources.
