Kate and William debut royal baby boy
London – Arab Today
Brits who put money on the name of the new royal baby were in for some good news on Wednesday as Prince Duke and Duchess of Cambridge named
their new baby boy George, the bookmakers’ favourite.
The baby’s full name is George Alexander Louis, Kensington Palace announced at 6.20pm. He will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
George was the most popular name among royal baby-watchers at bookmakers William Hill, Coral and Paddy Power. Alexander and Louis were also among the favourites.
The royal couple satisfied expectations that they would choose a traditional name, with the young heir to the throne following in a line of six previous monarchs called George.
But the speed in which William and Kate named the baby – just two days after he was born on at St Mary's Hospital in London on Monday – has surprised some. Prince William was not named until a week after his birth, and the name of the infant’s grandfather, Prince Charles, was not announced for a month.
The first-time parents are now at the duchess's family home in Berkshire after spending a night at Kensington Palace, where they were visited by George’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
