
The main opposition party denounced a ruling party lawmaker Tuesday for making prejudicial remarks based on the hometown of a police official testifying about the state intelligence agency's alleged meddling in last year's presidential election. During a parliamentary hearing on the scandal Monday, Rep. Cho Myung-chul, a North Korean defector-turned-lawmaker of the ruling Saenuri Party, asked the police official, Kwon Eun-hee, if she works for the state or her hometown of Gwangju, a southwestern city typically associated with the opposition bloc.c
