
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has condemned the gruesome killing of more than 50 people in a mosque in the morning of Monday, by people suspected to be members of the extremist insurgents in Konduga, northeastern Nigeria. The Secretary General who expressed shock over the dastardly acts of the terrorists said the unjustifiable killing of innocent people while genuinely practicing their religion is unacceptable and would not be tolerated by any civilized society. He called on the Nigerian government to bring to justice those that are responsible to this heinous crime. Mr. Ihsanoglu extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the violence and to the people and the Government of Nigeria. He reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations while it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
