President Barack Obama's approval rating in one of the bluest states in the union is approaching a new low, a poll indicates. A Field Poll released Tuesday has Obama's job approval rating in California at 52 percent, a 10-point drop from a poll released in February, Politico reported. A drop was also recorded in Obama's core constituencies. Since February his approval among Democrats fell 14 points to 74 percent while his approval among women voters dropped 15 points to 53 percent. A similar drop was recorded among voters aged 18-39. For that group, Obama's job approval was 57 percent, down 14 points from February. Field said the latest polling has Obama tied for the third-lowest California approval rating. He registered 46 percent in September 2011 and 48 percent in November 2011. The latest Field poll queried 846 registered California voters by telephone June 21-26. It carries a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
