Russian citizens have not been injured in the terrorist attack in Kenya, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday. The ministry recalled that in the evening of September 21, a group of gunmen opened fire on the visitors at the Westgate shopping mall in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. The attackers are still holding hostages. The Somali extremist organisation Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. “Special units of the police and armed forces of Kenya are conducting an operation to neutralise the criminals,” the Russian Foreign Ministry noted. “Dozens of people, including children, have fallen victim to the terrorist attack.” “According to available information, there are no Russian citizens among the victims,” the ministry informed. “Moscow is outraged by this inhumane crime and expresses the hope that its masterminds and perpetrators will be punished,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed. “At this difficult hour, we are in solidarity with the people and the leadership of Kenya, sympathising with the family members and close ones of the deceased in their grief and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry.
