LAPD seeks arsonist who set trash can fires along Ventura Boulevard

Los Angeles police were searching for an arsonist who started six trash can fires on Ventura Boulevard Wednesday night, officials said. One of the fires appeared to have spread to a business at 13912 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, police told KNBC-TV, Los Angeles. The series of fires began at 8:40 p.m. in the 13,000 block. Firefighters were at the scene, where smoke was seen billowing from the roof of a building, the TV station said.
