A Kyrgyz parliamentary delegation is slated to arrive in Tehran on Friday to discuss bilateral ties with Iran’s senior officials. “The delegation will meet with certain political and economic officials of the Islamic Republic as well as Iranian lawmakers,” Iranian Parliament Speaker’s top advisor for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said on Thursday. Sheikholeslam said that during the visit, the delegation whose members are from Iran-Kyrgyzstan Parliamentary Friendship Group at Kyrgyz parliament, will discuss the expansion of ties, specially parliamentary relations, with Iranian officials. He said that Kyrgyz Agriculture Minister Chynggysbek Uzakbaev, heading an economic team, will accompany the delegation during its visit to Tehran. Sheikholeslam noted that the Kyrgyz delegation will wrap up its visit on Tuesday. Iran and Kyrgyzstan have recently expanded their bilateral ties and mutual cooperation in different fields. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev, in September underlined his administration’s political will to expand bilateral ties and mutual cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Council (SCO), President Rouhani expressed the hope that the two countries would further boost their cordial relations in all areas of mutual interest. During the meeting, the Iranian and Kyrgyz presidents also exchanged views on ways of forging closer cooperation and the latest regional developments. The Kyrgyz president, for his part, said that his country sought close partnership with Iran, specially in the economic fields. “I hope that Tehran and Bishkek will work together closely to further bolster bilateral relations,” President Atambayev said.
