Judeh meets with OIC Secretary General

Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Monday discussed with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, ties between Jordan and the pan-Muslim organization and issues and challenges facing the Muslim nation. They also tackled and the latest developments in the region, including peace efforts, the Syrian crisis and Egypt. He briefed the Secretary-General on the ongoing Jordanian efforts to support and ensure the success of peace negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides under U.S. sponsorship and the Hashemite care of Jerusalem and its holy places. On Syria, the minister renewed Jordan’s call for a political solution to ensure the safety and security of Syria and its territorial integrity and preserve the dignity of the Syrian people, with the participation of all components of the Syrian people. He highlighted the implications of the Syrian crisis on Jordan and heavy burdens borne by the Kingdom as a result of hosting increasing numbers Syrian refugees and providing them with services. Ihsanoglu expressed the organization’s appreciation of the important and vital role Jordan plays in clarifying the true image of Islam, especially through the Amman Message.
