Amman - KUNA

A number of Jordanian officials have expressed appreciation for Kuwait's democratic Parliamentary elections, praising the Kuwaiti government's efforts to provide its people with a better life. The officials told KUNA on Wednesday the elections scheduled for July 27, set a great democratic experience that is worth observing to benefit from by other countries. Head of Jordan's Senate Taher Al-Masri said the Kuwaiti Parliament which was established in 1962, is the most important democratic experience in Kuwait. Al-Masri hoped the new parliament would help the country to resolve the current issues and to play a role in political issues regarding the GCC and Arab region. Dean of journalists in Jordan Tareq Al-Momani said the Kuwaiti government always seeks reforms in the country by holding such democratic elections, which reflect freedom and respect for human rights. Al-Momani also noted that Kuwait and Jordan are alike in applying democracy and freedom, especially in media. For his part, Chairman of Jordan News Agency (PETRA) Faisal Al-Shabbooul said Kuwait had been following democracy right from the start, adding that all Arab communities seek to preserve democracy, leading to what is known as "the Arab Spring' nowadays. Al-Shabboul noticed while observing the elections, that Kuwaitis decide what their priorities are, and ways to resolve their issues, hoping that all members of the society would participate in the elections, and that the new parliament would take the country to a new level of development.
