Hamas has called on the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to withdraw from the current peace negotiations with Israel following recent negative remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.. Hamas Spokesman Samie Abu Zahra said in a statement: "Following Netanyahu's announcement that progress in negotiation is zero, the PNA should pull out of negotiations and seek inter-Palestinian national unity instead." To attain this goal, he said, the reconciliation deal should be put in place and a consensual strategy be set out in order to respond to Israeli recalcitrance and crimes. The Israeli prime minister said earlier on Friday that progress in peace negotiations with the Palestinian side was zero. He was quoted as claiming that he was ready to offer concessions, but the problem was that the Palestinian side declined to recognize Israel as a Jewish state
