A forest fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has been put out, forest authorities said. No casualties were reported.
More than 1,400 fire fighters and armed police officers were mobilized to battle the fire at Jinlin Forest Farm in the Greater Hinggan Mountains, said forest official.
The fire broke out at around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday and strong winds and difficult terrain complicated the battle to extinguish the blaze.
Initial investigations showed the fire was caused by short circuiting high-voltage power lines, said the official.
