The Arab Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives on Monday said Sunday's visit paid by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to Israel aimed to affirm the Egyptian constants to resolve the Palestinian cause through the resolutions of the 2002 Arab summit and the French effort to hold an international peace conference on the Middle East.
In a statement, the committee said that Egypt is not a mediator, as it "stands in the same trench" with the Palestinian People.
The visit came within an initiative of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to revive the peace process between the Israeli and Palestinian sides, the statement added.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now responsible for taking real steps to take part in serious negotiations aiming to turn the vision of peace based on two states for two peoples into a reality, the statement said.
During the visit, Shoukry had talks with Netanyahu on reviving peace efforts with the Palestinians.
