
Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan discussed over phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin the developments in Syria.
The two sides touched on the ceasefire agreement in Syria, which goes into effect at midnight on Thursday, in addition to the ongoing talks to hold a meeting between the Syrian regime and the opposition under Turkish-Russian sponsorship in Kazakhstan's capital of Astana.
In a related development, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu called his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov for talks on the ceasefire agreement and the next steps.
