Egypt has taken part in an international conference in Vienna to discuss the latest developments in Libya.

Twenty nations along with the Arab League, European Union, and African Union are gathered in Vienna to discuss the expanding threat presented by "Daesh" in Libya.

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated in the meeting.

Shoukry delivered a speech about Egypt's vision on the latest developments in Libya, said spokesman for foreign Ministry Ahmed Abo Zaid.

Shoukry stressed the importance of reaching solutions that ensure the unity and stability of Libya.

Egypt voiced full support for the Libyan people and their legislative and executive institutions, mainly the House of Representatives, the Presidential Council and the Libyan army, Shoukry said.

He noted that Egypt exerted efforts to work on resolving the Libyan crisis in cooperation with the international partners and the United Nations.

Shoukry called for rebuilding confidence among the Libyan parties in order to focus on fighting against terrorism and reconstruction of the country.

The Egyptian foreign minister urged the Libyan parliament to vote for the unity government as soon as possible in line with the UN-sponsored Sukhairat declaration.

Shourky warned of supporting some armed militants, stressing the importance of prioritizing the concept of statehood.

Abo Zaid said that Shoukry held several meetings on the sidelines of the conference. He met with the foreign ministers of the US, Italy, UAE and head of Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al Sarraj.

The conference is due to issue a declaration to support the national unity government, forming presidential guards to protect government institutions and officials and coordinate with the Libyan armed forces in their war against terrorism.
