Cairo - Anadolu

Egypt's Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim denied on Wednesday reports regarding the arrest of top Muslim Brotherhood leaders after his troops dispersed two major sit-ins by the supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi. Earlier reports suggested a number of Brotherhood leaders were arrested at an under-construction building near Rabaa al-Adawiya Square in eastern Cairo. Among those allegedly detained were Mohamed al-Beltagi, Abdel-Rahman al-Bar and Essama al-Erian. Speaking to a televised press conference, Ibrahim said these leaders were not arrested yet. "We hope to arrest them soon." Ibrahim said that at least 43 policemen, including 18 officers, were killed nationwide today. Security forces moved in the early hours of Wednesday to disperse the two protest camps at Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya Square and Giza's Nahda Square.
