Egypt is cooperating with Russia to restore the aviation movement between the two countries in the tourism sector, Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathy said.
Russian requirements to this end will be fulfilled completely by mid-December and then the two countries will re-convene to set a date for the return of the aviation movement, Fathy said Monday during third day of the economic forum organized by Akhbar El Yom newspaper.
On October 31, 2015, a Russia-operated Airbus A321 crashed en route from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh to St. Petersburg. All 224 people on board the plane were killed. Soon after the catastrophe, Russia suspended all passenger flights to and from Egypt, citing security concerns.
