Davutoglu stresses Turkey will not withdraw forces from Iraq

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu asserted that his country's military intervention in Iraq aims at supporting the Iraqi people and combating terrorism.

He further stressed that Turkey will not withdraw its troops from the Arab country as long as there are extremist organizations that threaten its security.

In statements to reporters before leaving Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul heading to Jordan, Davutoglu said that that Iraqi Mosul and Syrian Aleppo constitute a security belt for Turkey.

These areas if left empty, would be occupied by Daesh terrorist group and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the premier underscored.

Meanwhile, Davutoglu will pay an official visit to Jordan, his first since assuming the duties of his post as prime minister.
